Surgical Services

Our caring physicians at ProMedica Toledo Children's Hospital provide a broad range of surgical care to infants, children and adolescents. These services include the management of many newborn conditions, including malformations, tumors and trauma, as well as care for common pediatric problems such as hernias, undescended testis and appendicitis. The surgeons specialize in minimal-access techniques for most procedures.

We also offer inpatient and outpatient surgical services for patients from infancy through adolescence with diseases or injuries of the brain or spinal cord. Specialty services include surgical treatment of central nervous system conditions, head/face deformities, tumors of the nervous system, trauma, epilepsy, and spasticity.

Getting Ready for Surgery

Our compassionate staff understands that you and your child may be nervous and even a little worried about your child’s surgery. You may have questions about what will happen before, during and after. Our Child Life specialists can help. They’ll help prepare your child for medical procedures, tests and hospitalization.

Please watch this video, Getting Ready for Surgery, to learn more about what to expect on the day of surgery.

If you have discussed with your child’s doctor your desire to be present in the operating room until your child is asleep, you will need to watch the video before the day of your child’s procedure.

If you have additional questions, please contact Child Life at 419-291-7441.
