John P. Pigott, MD, FACS
Medical Director, ProMedica Innovations
John P. Pigott, MD, FACS, medical director, ProMedica Innovations, is a recognized leader in medical innovations and vascular surgery. He is founder and president of VentureMed Group, a medical device company involved in the treatment of peripheral artery disease and a founding member of Vascular Innovations, a company devoted to novel technologies for aortic aneurysms.
A member of Cleveland Clinic Innovations Commercialization Advisory Board, Dr. Pigott holds his own patents for devices involving aortic aneurysm and peripheral artery technologies. He serves as a consultant to numerous multinational medical device companies and conducts national and regional new device training programs.
Dr. Pigott was an early proponent of minimally invasive endovascular treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms, carotid artery and peripheral artery disease and was a principal investigator for national clinical trials studying these techniques. He has authored multiple articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and presents at regional and national vascular meetings.
As a board-certified vascular surgeon at Jobst Vascular Institute (JVI) and ProMedica Toledo Hospital, Dr. Pigott serves as a faculty member of the ACGME-accredited Jobst Vascular Fellowship Program. Dr. Pigott received his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio, completed his residency at Akron City Hospital, and is fellowship-trained by Mayo Clinic.
Vice President, ProMedica Innovations
Paul Muneio, vice president, ProMedica Physician Continuum Services and ProMedica Innovations, has more than 19 years of experience with ProMedica. In his tenure, Paul has been involved with hospital operations, information technology, strategic planning, continuum services, and new technology.
Earning a degree in information systems and operations management from The University of Toledo, along with an MBA from Heidelberg College, Paul is responsible for physician and continuum strategic projects along with ProMedica Innovations operations.
Innovations Officer, ProMedica Innovations
Justin Hammerling, innovations officer, is the initial point of contact for inventors who are interested in pursuing potential commercialization of their inventions at ProMedica. He provides the inventors insights into the commercialization process and connects them to available resources within ProMedica, Cleveland Clinic and other Alliance partners. Justin works with both ProMedica Innovations and Cleveland Clinic Innovations teams to identify potential marketing and commercialization options for inventions. Obtaining both undergraduate and master’s degrees from University of Colorado, Justin has innovations and project management experience with Fortune 500 companies.
