TOLEDO, Ohio, July 7, 2011 – In three months, the new ProMedica Wildwood Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital, a division of ProMedica Toledo Hospital, will be open for business at 2901 N. Reynolds Road. It is the region’s first and only free standing hospital to exclusively offer orthopaedic and spine services, including knee, hip and shoulder joint replacement, and foot, ankle, hand and spine surgeries. The new facility is located on the Wildwood Medical Center campus which includes several physician offices, outpatient surgery center and Wildwood Athletic Club. The hospital construction project started in April 2010 and is being managed by Lathrop.
Nearly $33 million was invested into the one-story hospital which spans 70,000-square-feet. A second-story mezzanine provides convenient access to the other medical office buildings on campus. The hospital includes:
The president of the new hospital, Holly Bristoll, says the facility was designed to ensure that patients experience the highest quality and most efficient care possible within a comfortable and healing environment.
“A great deal of thought went into the architectural design and construction of this new facility to ensure that it would meet patients’ special needs and offer the most conducive environment for them to get well,” says Bristoll. “For example, the hospital is one story for ease of patient and family flow; plus there are healthy menu items, dedicated patient care navigators and a private patient exit.”
The location of the hospital is a natural evolution of the Wildwood campus with its focus on health, wellness and achieving your personal best. Patients will have access to comprehensive orthopaedic and spine specialty inpatient and outpatient services, specialists, rehabilitation, and health and fitness facilities on the Wildwood campus. In addition to state-of-the art technology, patients will be cared for by a team of medical experts, including physicians who specialize in hospital medicine, as well as nurse navigators who will facilitate patient education workshops on topics such as pain management. There will be multiple options for physical therapy, at the bed side or in group settings, based on their individual needs. Patients will have also access to several convenient features including a gift shop with a variety of orthopaedic-specific home convenience items, a full-service kitchen which will provide room service, and a public café.
This is ProMedica’s first all digital hospital, complete with electronic health records technology. The building is also environmentally friendly, from the lighting to the heating, ventilation and cooling systems.
