Fostoria Community Hospital Partners With NWOH Orthopedics & Sports Medicine
posted on: 08/20/2013FOSTORIA, OHIO, August 19, 2013 – To further strengthen orthopedic care provided locally, ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital has partnered with Northwest Ohio Orthopedics and Sports Medicine (NWO) to manage orthopedic and rehabilitation services.
This new relationship was based on the changing needs of the community as well as an anticipated increase in the number of orthopedic patients and procedures locally.
“NWO physicians currently provide our community with high-quality orthopedic care and that will not change,” said Dan Schwanke, president, ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital. “This relationship will ultimately increase coordination of care as well as make the availability of care more convenient for our patients and their families.”
“While most of the changes that will occur as part of this affiliation will not be visible to our patients, they will benefit from the innovative and patient-centered approach we are taking to increase their overall experience, ” said Brian Hecht, MD, orthopedic surgeon, Northwest Ohio Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
This relationship also supports the relocation of ProMedica-operated Total Rehab to the lower level of ProMedica Medical Center located on Fourth Street in Fostoria. The orthopedic specialty clinic will also gain newly constructed office space in this facility to further promote continuity of care.
“In a time of rapid change in health care, this affiliation is a great example of innovation and the value of community partnerships” said Mr. Schwanke. “We are excited to not only strengthen this program for the benefit of our patients but reinvest in our community as well.
