OREGON, Ohio, June 14, 2013 – ProMedica Bay Park Hospital (BPH) has been selected as the recipient of several prominent awards. The awards, ranging from patient experience to safety, emphasize the level of professionalism and expertise provided by the staff at BPH.

The awards include: Healthgrades 2013 Outstanding Patient Experience Award, Respiratory Care Excellence Award from the Ohio State Respiratory Care Society, an honorable mention from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and the Critical Care Societies Collaborative (CCSC), and an “A” Hospital Safety Score by the Leapfrog Group.

  • Healthgrades 2013 Outstanding Patient Experience Award
    • To qualify for the Healthgrades 2013 Outstanding Patient Experience Award, BPH met the clinical quality threshold for this award and had data for a minimum number of HCAHPS surveys, including the Clinical Quality Threshold. BPH also had data for at least 100 Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys to reliably assess performance.
  • Respiratory Care Excellence Award from the Ohio State Respiratory Care Society
    • BPH is the first respiratory care department in the state of Ohio to receive this honor. The award is based on department quality, initiatives, outside volunteering, policies, clinical practices and involvement within the hospital as a whole.
    • Honorable mention from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and the Critical Care Societies Collaborative (CCSC) for reducing or eliminating ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) for 69 months.
    • BPH was also recognized for showing national leadership in sharing evidence-based initiatives to improve clinical practice. BPH received one of 11 honorable mention awards given to hospitals across the nation.
  • “A” Hospital Safety Score by the Leapfrog Group
    • The A score was awarded in the latest update to the Hospital Safety ScoreSM, the A, B, C, D or F scores assigned to U.S. hospitals based on preventable medical errors, injuries accidents, and infections. The Hospital Safety Score was compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety. Hospital Safety Score is designed to give the public information they can use to protect themselves and their families.
