Screening: A Place at the Table
posted on: 06/13/2013
Please join ProMedica and several of our community partners for a special screening of A Place at the Table on Thurs., June 20. The event is part of our Advocacy department's Come to the Table initiative, addressing hunger as a health issue in our community and beyond.
This new documentary peels back the layers of the problem of food insecurity, weaving together the stories of three low-income American families who struggle to put healthy food on the table, despite the fact that they have jobs. Hunger knows no boundaries, as a young mother in Philadelphia to a fifth-grader in rural Colorado battle hunger on a daily basis. Millions of Americans are affected by food insecurity and this film shines a light on the issue, and also proposes solutions to the problem.
ProMedica, along with Food For Thought Toledo, LiveWell Greater Toledo and Toledo Seagate Food Bank present this thought-provoking documentary for free at the West Toledo YMCA (2110 Tremainsville Road) on Thursday, June 20th, beginning at 7 p.m. Light refreshments are available prior to the screening. While the event is free and open to the public, healthy food donations are welcome.
