Bereavement Support

Losing someone close to you is difficult. And, the grieving process is different for everyone. ProMedica Hospice knows it is important that you feel supported during this time. Following the death of your loved one, our bereavement coordinators will contact you to offer individualized support.

Bereavement support is also available to anyone in the community who may not have been affiliated with ProMedica Hospice. Our bereavement coordinators can offer you support through phone calls and individual home or office visits. If the need arises, referrals to outside agencies can be made.

Bereavement Mailings

Our intention is to support you as you grieve your loss. Very often, family members tell us, “Nothing is normal anymore.” Part of the process of grieving is to eventually create or find a new normal in your everyday life. Also, during the grieving process families sometimes ask, “Is it normal to...” It is comforting to know that most individuals have similar experiences in grieving the loss of their loved one. However, most of us do not know what to expect. Families receive mailings throughout the 13 months that will address some of the common processes of grieving. The mailings are a wonderful way to receive support and families often keep their mailing and take the opportunity to read them more than once.

Monthly Volunteer Calls

Families often recognize the benefit of having a trained bereavement individual to talk with on a regular basis. We offer families calls by a trained bereavement volunteer who understands the hardships of grief along with the importance of confidentiality.

Library Resources

Some individuals find reading to be a relaxing and informative activity which provides comfort during their grief. A bereavement library with materials is available to our families that can be checked out on a temporary basis.
