Behavioral Medicine Programs
At ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital, we are committed to helping children and adolescents on the path to mental and emotional health and well-being. In service of that goal, we offer a range of inpatient and outpatient services designed specifically for children and adolescents.
Inpatient care at ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital refers to short-term care for children and adolescents (ages 6 - 18) who are at risk of harming themselves or others, who are experiencing acute thought difficulties or who are in need of detoxification from illicit substances. Educational classes are provided to fit the needs of patients and aid in coping with daily stressors. Family participation is vital to the success of the patients. The treatment center is fully staffed with registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and mental health professionals, as well as a team that includes a social worker, an educator and an activity therapist.
Partial hospitalization provides sessions that allow children and adolescents with various diagnoses to obtain education and treatment for mental conditions and substance abuse. This program is also used to help in the transition from inpatient care or when 24-hour supervision is not required.
