Jobst Vascular Surgery Fellowship

Greetings, potential fellowship applicant. As you approach the end of your general surgery residency with an eye toward a career in vascular surgery, you need a robust, intensive ACGME-accredited fellowship in vascular surgery that will prepare you for a successful career as a vascular surgeon. We at Jobst Vascular Institute encourage you to consider our vascular surgery fellowship. The Jobst Vascular Surgery Fellowship is a 24-month independent fellowship spent entirely in clinical experience where you will hone your skills in order to prepare for a vascular surgery career in a clinical or academic setting. Our fellows complete a broad range of open vascular reconstructions and endovascular procedures of all varieties. Fellows also benefit from the experience they receive in vascular sonography interpretation during their yearly 2-month rotation in JVI’s well-appointed noninvasive vascular laboratory. During your rotations in our busy vascular lab, you will become proficient in both hands-on testing and official report interpretation. This experience will prepare you for earning your RPVI credential.

Your experience as a Jobst Fellow will extend beyond clinical practice: fellows are able to take advantage of a number of research and networking opportunities. Fellows are mentored by and work closely with Dr. Anthony Comerota, MD, FACS, FACC. Through our close academic affiliation with the University of Michigan, our fellows attend biweekly clinical teaching conferences, bimonthly Journal Club, and monthly Basic Science lectures in Ann Arbor. As a Jobst Fellow, you will also have the opportunity to present original research at regional and national vascular conferences. With a helpful support staff to aid you in data compilation, writing and editing, statistical evaluation, and graphical illustration, you will be able to focus your attention where it matters and enjoy rich academic productivity as a result.

Finally, Jobst Fellows get to experience this exciting time in their careers in an area that is family-friendly, culturally diverse, and that offers a low cost of living for its residents. We encourage you to read on and find out why the Toledo Commerce Club promised potential residents as far back as 1913 that they "will do better in Toledo."
