Admission and Discharge
We’re committed to your health before you walk through our hospital doors, and even after you leave. And while you’re here, we’ll do everything we can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Here is some information on admissions and discharge.
Whatever your reason for seeking care at one of our hospitals, you can count on us to be there for you from the second you’re admitted until the minute you leave. Our caring staff will provide you with information that includes your hospital’s visitor’s policy, helpful telephone numbers, maps, policies, amenities, and more.
Many patients can’t wait to hear their doctor tell them, "We're sending you home.” We understand. And when that day comes, we want you to know what to expect. Each hospital will inform you of its specific procedures, but here are some general guidelines.
- Before you leave a ProMedica hospital, a care coordinator may work with your hospital’s medical staff to develop a post-hospitalization plan to help you further recover at home.
- Most patients wish to go home as soon as the doctor writes discharge instructions. However, if you’re unable to leave at that time, just let your nurse know and we’ll make arrangements to accommodate your needs.
- So you don’t exert yourself, a hospital staff member will escort you in a wheelchair to a hospital entrance.
- In order to ensure seamless care after you leave the hospital, our care coordinator may work with your doctor or nurse to arrange therapy, home health care, or skilled nursing.
